Hello dear friends, today I just thought I should talk about proper breathing.
A lot of people suffer from anxiety, depression which may lead to suicide and this because they allow their emotions to be tossed around by the vicissitudes of life.
Life has its ups and downs and the ability to maintain an even keel of your emotion or to be calm would help one to hear from the Master within or the higher being or God as we may call it.
Now some in order to be calm, develop the habit of smoking or taking drugs but we are aware that engaging in such activities can lead to addictions which in the long run is detrimental to one’s health. So I took it upon myself this morning to discuss about proper breathing which is the natural way to maintain ones emotions and be calm.
Learning and engaging in proper breathing helps to combat stress and anxiety, it can help one to break the cycle of bad habits, helps one to maintain an even temperament and to be calm and When one is calm one can hear from GOD or the higher self or the Master within as some call it.
Now some years go I had the opportunity to come across a pattern of breathing exercise which one of the most respected warriors in Asia said was instrumental to his calmness and success as a Warrior it was called hosh dar dam, the 7-1-7 sequence of breathing.
Here you inhale as deeply as possible, by taking air through the nostrils, filling up the upper lungs and then making sure the diaphragm pushes the stomach out so the air gets to the lower part of your lungs, and then counting up to 7 secs as you do this, then holding the air in there for 1 second before exhaling by releasing the air from the the belly, to the lower lungs, and then from the upper lungs and then eventually through the nostrils, holding for 1 second before inhaling again and repeating the sequence. It is just normal breathing only that one is conscious of breathing in properly and deeply and exhaling in a rhythmic pattern. The rhythm by counting of the 7-1-7 sequence and deep breathing I have found I have personally found out helps me to combat, stress, anxiety and temperament. When you do this consciously and regularly it becomes automatic whereby you do not need to count anymore or consciously breathe in . The ability to be calm, makes one to be able to hear from God or the higher self or the Master within so as to chart course of life and the vicissitudes we encounter.
