Many years ago in my early teens, I came across an article, it was an interview with a great Chinese General (a Samurai) who said that the secret of his success and victories in battle had to do with his breath control a breathing technique called Hosh Dar Dam, Conscious Breathing or Mind in Breath
- Hosh means Mind,
- Dar means in,
- Dam means Breath
That was the first time I ever heard anything about conscious breath and the 7-1-7 conscious breath control which involves inhaling while counting up to 7 seconds holding the breath, for 1 second, and exhaling while counting 7 seconds.
Breath control is very effective in promoting good health, tranquillity and power. Breathing consciously helps one to be more conscious of oneself, knowing and observing ones-self.

How to Breathe Properly
Taking air into the lungs, through the nose, with the air hitting the back of the throat, filling up the bottom of the lungs to the top, On the exhalation, the air should when done properly, involve expelling the air starting from the bottom of the lungs then up to the top and through the nose.
Proper breathing allows the blood to be permeated with oxygen and the life-giving vital force vital for all the organs of the body, proper exhalation gets rid of the impurities which are oftentimes at the bottom of lungs.
Recent studies have shown that correct breathing technique helps in the healing of “dis-eases” of the body.

I created this 7 minutes long video ( below) as a guide, by combining the 7-1-7 breathing technique and the alternate flow of the yin yang for meditation.
In ancient Chinese philosophy, Yin and Yang is a concept of dualism, describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another.
As you can see, the yin yang fits perfectly with our breathing and by meditating and listening to the music and practising the 7-1-7 technique, one’s sub-conscious would breathe in this pattern.
